EU imposes new sanctions on Syria

On Thursday the European Union imposed additional sanctions on Syria, ITAR-TASS cites a source in Brussels as saying. 

According to the source, 19 Syrian companies (mainly in the oil sector) will be affected by these sanctions, including the Commercial Bank of Syria. These companies are suspected of providing President Bashar al-Assad with financial funds.
