Dozens of nuclear power plants to be built in Iran

Iran plans to build dozens of nuclear power plants producing 20,000 MW of energy, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast told Golos Rossii.

Iran welcomes all sides willing to sign contracts on construction of nuclear power plants.

Mehmanparast added that the launch of the Bushehr nuclear power plant gives Russia good opportunities for construction of new facilities in Iran. The Bushehr power plant was launched on September 12 and produces 1,000 MW. It will fulfill 40% of the demand for electricity. Fully-fledged operation of the plant will start in 2-3 months. Russia will provide all the necessary fuel.
