Baku celebrates 20th anniversary of state independence of Azerbaijan

An official reception devoted to the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the
state independence of Azerbaijan took place on October 17 at the Palace
"Bout" in Baku. The official event was attended by President of Azerbaijan
Ilham Aliyev, 1news.az reports.

At the event President Ilham Aliyev said that the independent development of
Azerbaijan began with the coming to power of Heydar Aliyev. It was then that
the foundations of Azerbaijani statehood were laid, strategic policy
development was defined, and a constitution adopted, which are the basis for
the foundation of the ideology of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani President also stressed that, since coming to power in 2003, he
has been true to the course of Heydar Aliyev.
