New power plant launched in Iran

The official launching ceremony of a composite cycle power plant in
Kerman took place today with the participation of Vice-Premier
Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Iran News reports.


The director of the Regional Electric Company of Kerman province,
Kerman Ali Asgar Nasrolakhi, told IRNA that realization of the project
began in 2007. Four extra power blocks with a capacity of 160
megawatts had been built at a cost of approximately $68 million.


According to Nasrollakhi, the project will enable reliable electric
supplies to south-eastern regions of the country and increase the
output factor of gas energy blocks of power plants from 33% to 48%.


The composite cycle power plant in Kerman has an estimated output of 2
thousand megawatts. It is one of the largest power plants in the
country, including 4 steam and 8 gas power blocks. .
