Death toll in Syrian demonstrations reaches 26

Syrian security forces killed 26 people and injured many others during demonstrations in various cities in the country, Trend cites the Al-Jazeera TV channel.

Demonstrations are being held in the major cities of Homs, Latakia and others.

Demonstrators demand President Bashar al-Assad's immediate resignation.The demonstrations in Syria have intensified after the death of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed last week.
