The US says that the Kyrgyz presidential polls on Sunday were democratic and peaceful. Prime Minister Atambayev had received 62.88% of vote by the time that 95.47% of the protocols were processed. The polls were organized after legitimization of power following a coup that forced President Bakiyev out of the country in April 2010.

US President Barack Obama praised the achievements of interim Kyrgyz President Rosa Otumbayeva in carrying out a democratic policy in the last 18 months, RIA Novosti reports.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged the Central Electoral Commission of Kyrgyzstan to study information on violations during the voting process.

The opposition and OSCE observers reported numerous violations. The head of the CIS monitoring mission, Sergey Lebedev, believes that the elections corresponded to the legislation of the state.
Hillary Clinton noted that most democratic principles were followed. She underlined that free and democratic elections were an important step for building democracy.
