Ingush cadets

16 years ago an elite educational organization was founded in Ingushetia. Education in one of the most prestigious military schools in the North Caucasus focuses on highland traditions. Its main discipline is military training, but it gives its students a broader education too. Students are of different nationalities - Chechens, Kabardins, Balkars and Lezgins.

There are 465 students at Abdullah Tsaroyev military school, situated near the settlement of Surkhakhi, where there is a national park with surrounding woodland. The school is a city in itself: there are educational buildings, libraries, dormitories, a refectory etc. The students participate in a range of extra-curricular activities, for example, a journalist group. The students are very varied. The teachers point out the low cultural level of the new students. Their native language skills are not very high, and their Russian less so. They read few books and do not know how to behave themselves in public.

The students are taught to follow highland traditions and ethics as well as modern European culture.
