Russia wants Victor Bout to return home

Russia wants the return of its arms dealer Victor Bout, who was sentenced by a US court this early morning.

The Russian Foreign Ministry says he was under exceptional political pressure from the US authorities.

Bout was illegally extradited from Thailand under US pressure. He was under physical and psychological pressure from the US special services. This violates the international laws and obligations of the US.

Harsh detention conditions did not allow an impartial process to be held.

The New York jury sentenced Bout on four points. He was sentenced for planning to kill US citizens and officials, attempting to purchase and sell missiles and supporting terrorism through the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia.

The sentence was passed unanimously. Bout may be sentenced to 25 years or for life. The judge will pass sentence later.
