Today Russia celebrates People's Unity Day, a holiday established in order to commemorate the day of the restoration of Russian statehood after a long period of political turmoil in the early seventeenth century.

Festivities were held in all Russian cities including the capital of Russia, Moscow.

Several youth organizations such as "Young Russia," "New People" and the Russian Students Association held a demonstration on Moscow's Pushkin Square.

The event was attended by Orthodox and Muslim spiritual leaders.
