Iranian, Armenian foreign ministers hold joint news conference

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to visit Armenia by the end of 2011, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a joint news conference with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, News Armenia reports.


One of the main topics for discussions was preparations of a visit of Ahmadinejad to Armenia. The visit was initially planned for June 6 to discuss economic issues.


Nalbandian says the visit is a great opportunity to continue the bilateral dialogue. Several meetings have been held this year. The sides discussed bilateral economic affairs, realized projects, especially in transport and energy.


The Armenian minister reminded about the latest session of the inter-governmental commission and deals that need realization.


Positions of Armenia and Iran coincide on many points, both states strive for improvement of relations, PanARMENIAN.net cites Salehi as saying.


Salehi also touched upon the nuclear program of Iran. He reminded that he used to be a representative of Iran to the IAEA and knows all details of the problem. The diplomat says that it is a political issue, not technical or legal, News.am reports.
