Hungary has the leading role in transporting Turkmen gas to Europe, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in Ashkhabad at a meeting with Hungarian President Schmitt Pal, Trend reports.

Hungary has advanced technology and technical abilities, the Turkmen president noted on Wednesday.
Ashkhabad is ready for joint consultations and improvement cooperation in energy with Hungary.

Turkmenistan has major oil and gas reserves. They may contribute to diversification of export routes. The Nabucco project will transport gas from the Caspian Sea to the Middle East and European states, the president said.

Officials from the MOL Company of Hungary, a partner of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline International, are also in Ashkhabad.

Turkmenistan expressed interest in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector project in May 2011. The project will transport liquefied gas through the Georgian Black Sea coast to Romania. A deal on AGRI was signed in Baku on September 14, 2010. It will be realized by Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary.
