18 billion rubles of budget money misused in North Caucasus Federal District

The total volume of misused budget funds allocated to the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District this year has exceeded 18 billion rubles, RIA Novosti quotes the Accounting Chamber of the Stavropol Territory.

In 2010 alone, regional budgets of the NCFD received intergovernmental transfers amounting to 167.8 billion rubles.

Measures to control the targeted use of budgetary funds were discussed on Monday at a meeting in Stavropol under the leadership of the Russian Audit Chamber Chairman, Sergey Stepashin.

In mid-October, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that one of the main problems of the Northern Caucasus remains the high unemployment rate and misuse of budgetary funds.
