US Embassy in Azerbaijan clarifies statement of Morningstar

The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has made clarifications on the statement made Special Envoy of the United States Secretary of State for Eurasian Energ, Richard Morningstar, in Baku on November 15, APA reports.

Morningstar said that the US supports the Southern Corridor as a significant pipeline project in terms of commerce and strategy. The pipeline will transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe. Nabucco is still a worthy alternative. Gas will be exported to Georgia and Turkey. If a smaller pipeline is selected for gas delivery to Europe from Shah Deniz, its needs to fulfill demands for gas in Europe. Azerbaijan needs to give legal guarantees to fulfill gas extraction demands. The US would support any project meeting demands of the Southern Corridor.
