EU's Ashton says Assad should resign

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton says Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has lost his authority and should resign, Echo of Moscow reports on Thursday.

The EU official also said she hopes that Arab states will soon call for his resignation.

Previously, Catherine Ashton held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who believes that foreign intervention only worsens the situation in Syria.
