US to continue defending Georgia's maritime borders

The United States will continue defending Georgia's maritime borders, US Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said at a meeting with Georgian Defense Minister Vano Merabishvili, Georgia Online reports.

Mabus said US navy forces remain in the Black Sea region in order to maintain peace and security in this part of the world.

Russia and Georgia fought a five-day war over breakaway South Ossetia in 2008.
