Gaddafi son to get fair trial - Libyan interim prime minister
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaLibya's interim Prime Minister, Abdel Rahim al-Kib, has said that the son of the late Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, who was arrested on Saturday, will be given a fair trial, RIA Novosti reports.
"I reassure our people and the world that Saif, and those with him, will be given a fair trial, in which international rights and norms will be guaranteed," local media quoted Kib as saying.
Kib's statement came after the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, expressed concerns on Saturday over the trial of Saif al-Islam.
Ocampo said that while national governments had the right to try their own citizens for war crimes, he was concerned whether Saif al-Islam would get a fair trial and would be tried for the same charges he faced at the International Criminal Court.
