Italy supports sanctions against Iran

Italy backs the economic sanctions against Iran announced by the US and is doing its best to persuade the EU to take same steps, RIA Novosti reports.

The sanctions are not aimed against the Iranian people, they are meant to convince Tehran to start cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and clarify the nature of the nuclear program, Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Maria Terzi di Sant'Agata said.
