CSKA drops out of Champions League

The Moscow CSKA football team has lost 2:0 to France’s Lille and the chance of entering the Champions League.

Russian players and fans were positively excited before the game started. But the team was unready to fight for both the Russian Premier League and the playoff in the Champions League. Leonid Slutsky, their coach, hardly had a choice of players and could not adjust the team throughout the match. The high injury rate and number of games did not give CSKA a chance to win the match against the French. Many observers say that the decisive goal was made by Berezutsky making the score 0:1. Gabulov’s playing at Lille’s woodwork failed to make any goals.

CSKA will play its final game in Milan against Inter, but it does not guarantee entrance to the Champions League playoffs.

In the B-group match Trabzonspor (Turkey) and Inter drew 1:1.

Manchester City (UK) lost to Napoli (Itali) 1:2. The English team has minimal chances of entering the next stage of the League. They need to beat Bavaria. The chances of Villarreal beating Napoli are low with its lack of points.

Manchester United has a less complicated task, it only needs to beat Basle (Switzerland).

Barcelona, Milan, Real and Benfica have already won their chance to enter the next round of the League of Champions.
