Iran urges Turkey to shun missile-shield systems in Europe
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIran has urged Turkey not to get involved in the European missile shield systems. Alaeddin Borujerdi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy of the Iranian Parliament, said that the system is necessary only for Israel’s defenses.
Moscow speaks out against the anti-missile systems as well. The complexes in Poland and Romania are believed to be set against Russia. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev promised to enforce the armed forces in Kaliningrad.
The European missile shield includes complexes in THAAD and AN/TPY-2 in the Malatya base in Turkey in 2012. Four missile cruisers with SM-3 IA missiles will arrive in the Rota base in Spain in 2013.
