The top Turkish generals met in Ankara to discuss the military and political situation in the region in light of events in the Middle East, in particular, the threat of missile attacks by Syria and Iran, 1news.az reports, citing the Turkish media.

The meeting was chaired by the Chief of Staff, Army General Necdet Ozel, and attended by the commanders of the air, naval and ground forces, the gendarmerie and other branches of the army. It is worth noting that Syria has already pointed its missiles towards Turkey. Missiles are deployed in the areas of Qamishli and Ayn Divari near the borders of Turkey and Iraq, the Iranian television channel Press TV claimed. This coincides with the rapid deterioration of relations between Turkey and Iran.

At the same time, as previously reported, the Iranian Air Force commander, General Amir Ali Hajizade warned Ankara that Iran is ready to attack the elements of the NATO missile defense system that Ankara intends to deploy in the south-eastern regions.
