Suspected Taraz attackers detained in Kazakhstan
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaSix suspects of an organized terrorist group, followers of Jihad, have been detained in southern Kazakhstan, a spokesman of the Prosecutor General's Office, Nurdaulet Suindikov, said today, ITAR-TASS reports.
34-year old Jihad follower Maksat Kariyev organized a terrorist attack at the Taraz City of the Zhambylskaya District on November 12, resulting in 7 dead, including 5 police officers. Two other officers were hospitalized with gunshots. The terrorist robbed a hunting shop, stole two vehicles, shot the local district department for national security from a grenade launcher. Kariyev blew himself up when to avoid arrest.
The six detained suspects are believed to be part of Kariyev's group. They planned robberies of shops and banks. Almost everyone of them had previous crime records. including murders. Their leader was acting as a religious mentor. He had shcemes of the national security department and administration.
Kariyev realized the plot dressed as a member of Kazakhtelecom and was operating under drugs on November 12.
