Luxembourg says EU cannot become global player without Turkey

The Vice-Premier of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, has called for Turkish membership of the EU, TRT reports, at a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Asselborn noted that the European Union is suffering from recession. Turkey has firm political and economic positions. The EU cannot become a global player without Turkey.

Jean Asselborn also had meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and attended the opening of the embassy of Luxembourg in Ankara.
