Construction of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque at Vypolznoy Alley in the capital's center will be completed in 2013, Interfax reports.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin signed a related order.

Construction was initially expected to end in 2009, but was postponed to December 31, 2013.

The government increased the land alloted to the cathedral from 26,500 to 31,200 square meters. It will include small and large prayer halls and rooms for the clerical administration. The Muslim Administration of Russia’s European part is constructing the building.

The historic building of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque was knocked down in September 2011 due to its condition.
