Bakhodir Tashmatov appointed secretary of Uzbek National Security Council

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on dismissal of National Security Council Secretary Murad Atayev, appointing him deputy secretary of the Security Council, reports Trend, citing a source in the government of the republic.

Another decree of the President appointed First Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic, Major-General Bakhodir Tashmatov for a position of Secretary of National Security Council.

The jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Security Council include issues of military-technical cooperation, procurement and sales of arms, human resource issues in law enforcement agencies.
