UN announces 2012 International Year of Sustainable Energy for All
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe UN General Assembly has announced 2012 as the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All, News Georgia reports.
The year was announced at the 65th session of the General Assembly. UN members were recommended to use the year to inform their publics about energy supply, access to low-cost energy resources, energy efficiency, eco-friendly sources of energy and use of energy.
The UN says that 1.4 billion people today have no access to modern energy sources.
The International Year of Sustainable Energy for All involves the solution of 3 interdependent goals by 2030: full access to modern energy services, reducing world energy consumption by 40% and increasing the share of renewable energy sources to 30%.
