France simply oppose Turkey in genocide issue, it doesn't seek truth - expert

The criminalizing a denial of the Armenian Genocide allegedly comitted by Ottoman Turks will be discussed and probably approved by the French Senate in January, 2012. VK asked Armenian political analyst Stepan Grigoryan to comment on the matter.

Grigoryan underlines that French lawmakers has already come up with such initiative several times, but similar documents have never been approved. Still there is a good chance, that this time such law will be passed, the expert admits.

According to Grigoryan, the whole thing has nothing to do with searching for truth. "What we see is a conflict of interests," the expert says, "Turkey's role in the region is becoming greater, it has a strong influnce on the Arab World, North Africa and Middle East. Naturally this leads to conflict with France, Italy and even Russia".
