Recent excavations have shown that the city of Tbilisi is older than it is generally believed to be, News-Georgia reports.

The city is said to have been founded in the 5th century A. D., but recently-found artefacts prove that the site the city stands on was inhabited in the 2nd or 3rd centuries A. D.
