British parliament may call upon Putin to abstain from visiting UK

 

The British Parliament may call upon Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to abstain from visiting London during the coming Olympic Games, Ekho Moskvy reports on Wednesday.

Such a proposal was made by former UK European affairs minister, member of parliament Denis MacShane.

Mr. MacShane told The Guardian that the measure was necessary to show Moscow that the UK could no longer tolerate the situation surrounding democracy and human rights in Russia.
