Another Caucasus strategic road closed over avalanche risk

The Georgian Military Road connecting Russia and Georgia has been closed due to avalanche risks, ITAR-TASS reports.

The road section from Vladikavkaz to the Lars Village has been closed, Yulia Starchenko, press secretary of the North Ossetian Emergencies Ministry, said.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the road connecting Russia and Trans-Caucasus, the so-called Transcam, had been closed on Sunday. Low vision and heavy snowing do not allow anti-avalanche equipment to operate.
