UN proposes Baku host Global Internet Governance Forum

The UN proposed that Baku host the Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in 2012, 1news.az cites Azerbaijani Minister for Communication and IT Ali Abbasov at the session for socio-economic development of 2011.

Azerbaijan also plans to host the BakuTel-2012, an exhibition which will also stress on the World Wide Web.

The IGF was organized by the UN secretary general within the framework of the World Summit of the Information Society (WSIS). The forum became a platform for dialogue. The IGF was first organized in 2006.
