Turkmenistan and Belarus set cooperation priorities

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich in Turkmenabat (Lebap Region), Trend reports.

Belarus has been selling agricultural equipment to Turkmenistan for many years. Turkmenistan exports textile and processed cotton products.

Trade turnover between the two states increased 2.8-fold in January-November 2011, compared with the same period in 2010, totaling $186.29 million. Turkmenistan has 14 enterprises with Belarusian capital and is realizing 13 investment projects with Belarusian companies.

Construction of the Garlyk mining and processing works in the Lebap Region is a general project the first complex of which costs a billion dollars. It has an output of 1.4 million tons of mineral fertilizers annually. Belgorhimprom is the general contractor of the facility.

Myasnikovich praised the economic potential of Turkmenistan and its reliability. Belarus wants to share experience in organizing joint industrial facilities, development of infrastructure based on advanced technology.

The Belarusian delegation to Turkmenistan consists of ministers for industry, architecture and construction, transport and communications, trade and heads of other structures.
