Nurlan Nigmatulin becomes Kazakh Speaker of Parliament

Nurlan Nigmatulin has become the Speaker of Kazakh Parliament, supported by MP Rozakul Halmuradov.

Nigmatulin was Deputy Chairman of the National Democratic Party “Nur Otan” from November 2009.

Nigmatulin was born in Karaganda in 1962. He graduated at the Karaganda Polytechnical Institute. He is a PhD in Politics. He worked as an engineer and head of the Karagandaoblgaz transport column after graduating.

Nigmatulin was First Secretary of the Leninsky District Committee of the LYCL, deputy head of youth organizations of Central Committee of the LYCL of Kazakhstan, First Secretary of the Karaganda Regional Committee of the Kazakh LYCL, Chairman of the Committee of Youth Organizations of Kazakhstan, President of Tenkri (a US-Kazakh joint venture), a state inspector, deputy head of the department for organization and control of the Presidential Administration, deputy head of Astana, Vice-Minister for Transport and Communications, deputy head of the Presidential Administration, Governor of the Karaganda Region.

Yerlan Nigmatulin, a twin brother of Nurlan, is a deputy of the upper chamber of parliament.
