State of emergency lifted in Egypt

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces of Egypt lifted the state of emergency in the country today. The state of emergency regime had been in force for 30 years, RIA Novosti reports.

Chairman of the Supreme Council Hussein Tantawi said that the regime will only be in force for criminals involved in gangs. The state of emergency was lifted to mark the first anniversary of the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s regime.
