New Zealanders to train Georgian rugby team
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaMilton Haig and his assistant Chris Gibbs, both from New Zealand, will train the Georgian national rugby team, News Georgia reports.
They will sign a 2-year contract with an extension opportunity of 2 years.
President of the Georgian Rugby Union, Georgy Nizharadze, said that the decision was based on the resources and interests of the national team.
Haig said that his impression of the Georgian team was made at the World Cup in New Zealand. He said that he plans to train the team for the Cup of European Nations
Gibbs noted that the Georgian team is strong and explosive, especially the strikers.
The training crew consists includes Georgian specialists Ilia Maysuradze and Ilia Zedgenidze. Rugby player Tana Umaga will be a consultant of Haig.
The new coaches will start training on January 30.
