EU expects Iran to adopt moratorium for death penalty

The EU is concerned over persecution of journalists and bloggers in Iran, as stated by Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, RIA Novosti reports.

Ashton urged Iranian authorities to release convicted journalists immediately and reconsider death sentences for three Iranian bloggers.

Moreover, the high representative said that the EU expects Iran to ban all death penalties and pass a moratorium on death sentences.
