CSTO concerned over Strait of Hormuz tensions
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Permanent Council of the CSTO has expressed concerned over escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, press secretary of the organization Vladimir Zaynetdinov said, RIA Novosti reports.
The CSTO called for moderation and avoidance of actions provoking confrontation. Serious repercussions may follow confrontation, especially on the background of instability in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Tensions around the Gulf escalated after Iran’s threats to block the Strait of Hormuz, a key naval route for oil transport from the Gulf, in response to sanctions against exports of oil from the Islamic Republic.
