Saakashvili to continue reformation process

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili gave a speech at the 48th International Security Conference in Munich, News Georgia reports.

The president pointed out democratic reforms realized in Georgia after the “Rose Revolution”. He noted that the population needs to take part in reforms.

Saakashvili believes that only joint efforts of the government and society would give real and sustainable results. He added that reforms need to be all-inclusive.

Munich, the capital of Bavaria, started the 48th International Security Conference at the end of last week. Stress was put on the Arab Spring, nuclear non-proliferation in the Euro-Atlantic Region, switch of US interests to the Pacific Region, settlement of frozen conflicts, cyber security, prevention of conflicts over energy resources.

The Munich Conference has been held regularly since 1962. It was founded by publisher Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist-Schmenzin in 1962. The military and NATO leaders were the main attendants of the conference for 30 years. China, India, Japan, Russia and Eastern Europe started taking part in the conference in the 1990s.
