Georgia's River Kura freezes for first time in 50 years

Georgian TV channels have recently reported the River Kura freezing at Mtskhet (not far from Tbilisi) for the first time in 50 years, News Georgia reports.

Bezumny Max reported about the river in his LJ, posting photos.

The cold weather in Georgia started in mid-January. Heavy winds started in early February.

Snowing was registered in Tbilisi and Bolnisi (Kvemo Kartli, Eastern Georgia) on February 6. Snowing continued at night at the Kakheti Region (Eastern Georgia).

Weather improvements are forecast for February 7. But snow and cold will start again after this.
