Saakashvili's "construction of the century" threatens Colchis national reserve

The Agency for Protected Areas is preparing a special statement in connection with the construction of a new town in western Georgia, Georgia Online reports, referring to "Kommersant".

Several non-governmental environmental organizations have recently stated that the construction will threaten the Colchis national reserve. According to the Agency for Protected Areas, they are aware of problems in connection with the construction of Lazika.

The initiative to build a new town in Western Georgian belongs to president Mikheil Saakashvili.
