UN chief says Fatah-Hamas coalition would not hinder Israel talks

Rapprochement of such Palestinian groups as Fatah and Hamas should not be viewed as a contradictory or mutually exclusive condition for return to negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority, MIGnews reports.

Such statement was made by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in a telephone conversation with Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas.

The secretary general expressed hope that Abbas remains devoted to dialogue and peaceful efforts.
