Medvedev warns of terrorism ahead of polls

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned about a possible increase of terrorism activity in the North Caucasus at the upcoming presidential polls, Gazeta.ru reports.

The president demanded measures to be taken to enforce security. He reminded the FSB on Tuesday to prevent all possible provocations by extremists.

Militants of the Caucasus view Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as the main enemy. Putin has pointed his role in the Second Chechen War numerously in his speech.

Doku Umarov, a militant leader in the Caucasus, urged his supporters not to harm Russians because they no longer support Putin. Umarov has organized all major attacks in recent times, including the Domodedovo Airport blast.
