Azerbaijani foreign minister meets French senators
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAzerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received a French parliamentary delegation led by Senator Nathalie Goulet on Tuesday, the press service of the Ministry told Trend.
Mammadyarov stressed the importance of the visit for bilateral relations.
Mammadyarov noted that the French law criminalizing the denial of Armenian genocide adopted by the Senate on January 23 was received emotionally in Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov once again brought to the attention of senators that 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands are still under occupation, and about one million people driven from their native lands.
Mammadyarov also told the French senators about the steps being taken for a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
The senators stressed the importance of this visit, aimed to raise bilateral relations to a higher level. They also said they felt how emotionally Azerbaijan accepted adoption of the law criminalizing the denial of the so called Armenian genocide.
