Abkhaz president suspects police of covering up crimes

Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab condemned the local police for covering up crimes and demanded the practice to stop. He discussed a police round up of 2011 with Interior Minister Otar Khetsiya. The minister noted a crime reduction compared with 2010.

The president expressed doubts about police efficiency and reminded about 77 thefts in the Gagrsky District, doubting such a low crime rate, Apsnypress reports.

Ankvab said that the Interior Ministry needs to study the problem on February 10.
