The European Commission does not want Greece to fence itself off from Turkey as a measure to fight migration, RIA Novosti cites Mikele Cherkone, an EC official in Brussels.

Greece announced construction of a 10-km wall on the ground border with Turkey. Construction will start in March and end by September, Greek Minister for Citizen Protection Christos Papoutsis says.

The process will cost over 3 billion euro. The iron wall will be 4 meters high and will be built in two lines. The wall will run from the Nea Vissa Village and Kastanies. Part of it may be constructed along the sea or River Evros.
