Rovnag Abdullayev: TANAP Project Agreement might be signed very soon
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Inter-state agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey on the construction
of the Trans-Anatolian pipeline (TANAP) may be signed in Baku in the
near future, the Head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR),
Rovnag Abdullayev, said in an interview to ANS, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.
He said that the signing of the intergovernmental agreement is scheduled
for the upcoming visit of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
to Baku.
Abdullaev did not rule out the possibility that TANAP would be integrated
into the Nabucco project, as is currently being negotiated with the
shareholders of the project, adding that the choice of one of three gas
pipeline projects will be made as soon as possible. According to the head
of SOCAR, the construction of the Trans-Anatolian pipeline will not become
an obstacle to the realization of other pipeline projects - TAP, ITGI -
because they were aimed at providing gas to Europe.
The construction of the pipeline will meet the great needs of Western
