The US Administration supports the idea of sending UN and Arab League peacekeepers to Syria, White House spokesman Jay Carney said, ITAR-TASS reports.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that Syria rejected the resolution of the Arab League, which included calls for UN peacekeepers to enter Syria and rejected all decisions made by the council of foreign ministers of the Arab League made in Cairo.

The Arab League held a council of foreign ministers on Sunday. They decided to request help from the UN Security Council to send peacekeepers to Syria and conclude the monitoring mission. The resolution project included calls for harsher economic sanctions against Syria and breaking off diplomatic cooperation with it.
