Syria to hold referendum on new Constitution on February 26

Syria will hold a referendum on the new Constitution on February 26, set by President Bashar Al-Assad, ITAR-TASS reports.

The Syrian authorities assure that the new document will expand democracy in the country. Bashar Al-Assad announced the referendum at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Intelligence Chief Mikhail Fradkov in Damascus on February 7.
