Rikotskiy tunnel in Georgia closed for reconstruction

Reconstruction has begun of the Rikotskiy tunnel, located 142 km away
from the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway, News Georgia reports.

Work will be carried out by the Chinese company ‘Sinokhidro’. The
agreement between the company and the Georgian road department was
signed in Tbilisi in April this year.

Reconstruction work involves replacing the hydro-isolation system and
supports using modern technologies; modernizing ventilation systems,
lights, electricity supplies and fire-security systems based on
European standards; renewing the sewage systems; installing 24-hour
video camera monitoring and organizing security based on European
standards.
