Turkmen president announces program

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, recently elected for a new five-year term, has urged respect for human rights and freedom, Trend reports.

He said that efforts will be put into improving civil society, the formation of a multi-party system, development of institutions and efficient mass media. Combating drug trafficking will continue. The state will preserve its neutral status.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that Berdimuhamedov got 97.14% of the vote.
