$5.72 million issued for development of Big Baku plan

The carrying out of the Big Baku development plan will cost $5.72 million, ABC reports.
Dovletkhan Dovletkhanov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, said that 10.31%, $0.59 million, of the sum issued for the plan was spent by the end of 2011.
The plan will be launched in 2013. The old plan covered a territory of 22,000 hectares, while the real territory of Baku exceeds 219,000 hectares. The previous general plan for Baku was passed in 1987. The new regional development plan will affect Baku, Sumgayit and the Absheron Peninsula for 20 years. Such projects were realized in other states of Eastern Europe. Over 3 million people will be influenced by the plan.
